Since I wasn’t getting any attention to the spot on my eye, we had a visit to interventional radiology. The result of this visit was a treatment plan to apply radiation to the spot on the eye 10 time. Everyday for 5 days take the weekend off and 5 more treatments everyday. Part of the preparation for the treatment was to get a “mask” or a fixture to hold the head in position so they could align the radiation beam to hit the spot in the eye.

I asked a few questions about whether this would affect surrounding structures. Since the spot was in the eye between the lens and the retina I was concerned that the radiation would damage the retina or the optic nerve. Either I wasn’t listening clearly or interpreted what was being said. I heard that there was a possibility that it could damage those areas. I also wasn’t excited to make 10 trips everyday to the clinic. The logistics would be impossible. So I put a hold on this procedure until I did more research.
